There is clear potential here in terms of using media terminology and analysing Media texts. If we can add a couple of aspects and develop exam technique we will see some rapid progress.

EBI: 

Media theory is the key area lacking here-both in question 3 and in question 4. Social and cultural context are another area to look at - we will working on this in class.

Mark Scheme:

Question 1:Todorov's theory of disequilibrium represented by gun; character eyeline staring off-screen conveys danger or threat; tagline references 'survival'; no sense of new equilibrium.

Question 2:Both goods reference to the role society may play in moulding people's lives, which is a prominent issue in British media and culture.

Question 3: Neale's "repetition and difference" enables producers to change genre while maintaining audience Abercrombie's "television producers set out to exploit genre traditions... economic logic"... "Genres enable the establishment and preservation of a dedicated audience."

Question 4:Remember the different theories and discuss in more detail.

Exemplar:

Question 2:Mention about social views as well as British culture so again marks.

Question 3:Mention Abercrombie and Neale's theories.
